The Girona FC coach, Míchel Sánchez, appeared this Thursday at the press conference prior to tomorrow's match against Espanyol at the RCDE Stadium. The red-and-white coach wanted to start by clarifying his statements after the match against Osasuna regarding Lass's expulsion. “I think I was not right in what I said about Lass's expulsion,” Míchel admitted. In this regard, he emphasized that “I always ask the players and the fans to have a sense of belonging” and wanted to provide context for the play: “What I saw is that Aimar and Lass fight for their teams, and not much more. It’s an action that can happen and that will also have served as a learning experience for Lass.” The coach also highlighted the player's response: “He has shown that when the team is in a phase of suffering, he can be relied upon. His response in the fifteen minutes he played was very good.”

Regarding the team's current form, Míchel expressed optimism: “Little by little, we are improving and becoming more competitive. Every day the team is better and more confident.” He also had words of support for Javi Puado: “I wish him a very good recovery and hope he can be playing as soon as possible.”

About the opponent, the Girona coach praised the work of Manolo González at the helm of Espanyol. “He is doing a spectacular job. They are in a moment that we have also experienced. He has found the key to the best version of the team. His players are having a great season.”

Looking ahead to the match, Míchel was clear about the approach: “We are very clear about what we need to do to be able to dominate the match.”

Finally, the coach emphasized the Club's culture and project. “Here there is a Club culture, a project. I am very clear about what I think of football and the sports culture that I want the players to convey on and off the field. They must know that they are fighting for a city and a province.” Along this path, he highlighted the role of players like Stuani, Portu, Arnau, Juan Carlos, or David López, “leaders of these values because they have been living them for many years.” Míchel concluded by reaffirming his mutual trust with the club and the locker room: “I am here because of the Club's trust and because the players trust me.”
