FC Bayern will face an opponent in absolute top form in the Champions League semi-final. According to coach Luis Enrique, Paris Saint-Germain will start the first leg against the German record champions with almost their full squad – sending a clear message to Munich

„Everyone is ready, there are no question marks,“ explained Enrique at the press conference ahead of the thrilling clash. Particularly important for the Parisians: midfield strategist Vitinha is ready to play again after recovering from a heel problem. Achraf Hakimi, who had to be substituted recently with an injury, is also available for the French champions

Even with the few question marks, Enrique is optimistic: „All the players are ready, including almost Quentin Ndjantou. He’s missing preparation, but he’s almost ready too,“ said the Spaniard, meaning PSG can almost make full use of their squad for the most important game of the season

PSG rely on freshness and attacking quality

The good mood in the team was already noticeable in the final training session. No wonder: in addition to Vitinha and Hakimi, attacking stars such as Ousmane Dembélé, Désiré Doué, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Nuno Mendes were also back on the pitch. They had been deliberately rested in the previous league games in order to be at 100 per cent for the clash with Bayern

Enrique made it clear that his team sees the semi-final not only as a sporting challenge, but also as a special experience. „We have to enjoy these moments, because you never know whether you’ll play matches like this again in the future,“ emphasized the PSG coach

At the same time, he announced an intense clash: „All the players are ready and want to play in this semi-final. We’ll see which team is the best.“ The anticipation for the clash with FCB is correspondingly high in Paris

Enrique raves about Kompany and calls for defensive discipline

Despite all the attacking power, however, Enrique knows that the defence will be the main challenge against Bayern. „It will be crucial that we stand well at the back. That’s one of the keys,“ explained the 53-year-old, putting his team under pressure. Against a team like FC Bayern, you have to know exactly „how to defend“

Finally, Enrique had words of praise for his fellow coach Vincent Kompany: „He’s a top coach. When he signed for Bayern, we saw straight away what kind of team they were,“ said the Spaniard

Enrique is particularly impressed by Munich’s attacking style: „Bayern is one of my favorite teams because they always play attacking soccer. I generally like all coaches, but especially coaches who play attacking soccer – and he is one of them.“

So everything is set for a real soccer spectacle. Two top teams with an attacking approach will meet – and both will go into this semi-final with a broad chest. For FC Bayern, it will be important to control the individual class of the Parisians. PSG, on the other hand, seem ready for the next big step.
