A day before Real Madrid and Barcelona meet in Spain's El Clásico this coming weekend, the Saudi Pro League version is set to take place in Jeddah.
'Al Clasico' between Al Ittihad and Al Hilal is always more than just another Saudi Pro League fixture and this Friday's encounter is no different
So far this season, Al Hilal have started brightly, sitting fourth in the table after five matches with three wins and two draws. They remain unbeaten, scoring freely while keeping things relatively tight at the back.
Al Ittihad trail just behind in fifth, having won three, drawn one, and lost one, their form solid but occasionally inconsistent. The Jeddah club’s home performances have been mixed, though they have travelled well, suggesting that consistency is their main concern heading into this encounter.
Al Ittihad continue to rely heavily on the experience and class of Karim Benzema, whose intelligence and finishing remain crucial to their attack. Alongside him, Moussa Diaby has provided much-needed pace and creativity from the flanks, his direct running offering a spark whenever Ittihad look to break quickly.
