Kicker and Abendzeitung reports that ex-Arsenal and Germany goalkeeper Jens Lehmann is interested in becoming an investor at 1860 Munich.

Lehmann is said to be making concrete plans to try to acquire the shares of Hasan Ismaik, 1860’s long-time unpopular shareholder. The former goalkeeper is said to be searching for other financially strong partners to help acquire the shares.

The asking price is said to be around €25-30m.

If Lehmann does replace Ismaik, he wants to insert himself as the head of sport at the club. Putting the job of Christian Werner in doubt.

On top of this, the former Borussia Dortmund and Schalke number one will want to build a new stadium, which could cost over €250-350m instead of refurbishing the Grünwalder Stadion, 1860’s current home, in Giesing.

This is not the first time that Lehmann has been linked with 1860. He has been a member of the club for several years and was even linked as a potential managing director, while in 2016, he was also linked with becoming a shareholder at the club.

It has been an eventful summer for 1860. First, it was announced that Ismaik will sell his shares in the club. Then it was announced that an investor had been found, but Ismaik backtracked on selling his shares in the club.

On the pitch, after the arrivals of Kevin Volland and Florian Niederlechner, 1860 Munich are currently third in the 3.Liga as they look to return to the 2.Bundesliga.
