Inter Milan midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan feels that the Nerazzurri lacked composure in front of goal against Sparta Prague yesterday.

The Armenian spoke to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews, after yesterday’s Champions League win.

Inter did get the result they were after against Sparta Prague yesterday.

The Nerazzurri took three points to put themselves right on the precipice of directly qualifying for the Champions League round of sixteen.

However, it was far from a straightforward match for Inter.

For the fourth time this season in Europe, the Nerazzurri won by a scoreline of 1-0.

Inter have become used to having to hold out for the clean sheet right to the bitter end in the Champions League.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan Admits: “Inter Lacked Composure In Front Of Goal Vs Sparta Prague”

Inter went ahead early on in the first half yesterday evening.

It took a moment of real inspiration from Nerazzurri captain Lautaro Martinez to put his team ahead. He squeezed the ball in at the near post from an improbable angle on the volley.

Other than that, however, there was little inspiration to be found in attack for Inter.

The Nerazzurri did have the ball in the back of the net in the second half, through Denzel Dumfries. However, a very narrow Federico Dimarco offside meant that the goal did not stand.

Overall, Inter were hardly laying on the chances against Sparta.

After the match, Nerazzurri midfielder Mkhitaryan admitted that “maybe we weren’t composed in front of goal.”

“Sometimes that happens,” he continued.

“We wanted to kill it off as soon as we could. We weren’t able to, but it’s still a great result.”

“Now we want to play well against Monaco,” the former Arsenal and Manchester United veteran concluded. “And finish in the top eight.”
