Speaking at the club assembly last week, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez went all out in firing shots at not only La Liga and UEFA but also Barcelona for various reasons.
The primary topic of discussion around the Catalan club was the Negreira scandal, something Perez again insisted was a clear attempt to bribe referees to favour decisions towards them.
His statements, needless to say, came as a sign of worsening relationships between the two institutions that have worked well in tandem in recent years.
Joan Laporta, the president of Barcelona, also came out soon after to fire shots at Perez.
Speaking to the media after Barcelona’s win over Deportivo Alaves last night, former Blaugrana president Joan Gaspart was asked about Perez’s recent statements about Barcelona and the Negreira scandal.
The former Barcelona administrator did not hold back and lashed out at the Real Madrid president for being the real ‘cheater.’
“The Negreira of Spanish football is Mr. Florentino Perez. Madrid has been Negreira for a hundred years and Florentino has been Negreira for 25 years very clearly.”
“The only cheater here is Florentino Perez,” he added.

Elaborating on the attacks Perez launched at Barcelona, the former president went on to state that the accusations labelled Lionel Messi as an average player who was helped by officials.
“He is insinuating that Barça has won titles that it did not deserve. That is to say, Messi is shit.”
“He’s [Perez] the real cheater. He controls everything and, from time to time, he talks about Negreira and Barça to attack us,” he added.
Finally, he spoke on how Barcelona have taken the lead over Real Madrid after the win over Alaves, putting the pressure on their rivals.
“The truth is that this is the best result. We have won and that is what matters and we are leaving leaders of this game waiting to see what Madrid does.”
