Claudio Ranieri feels that Inter Milan are “still the favourites” to win the Serie A title despite increased competition.

The legendary former Nerazzurri, Leicester City, and Chelsea coach gave his thoughts on the title race in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.

One thing that looks certain is that this season’s Serie A title race will not look like the last one.

Last time out, Inter won the title in very convincing fashion. They had a margin of nearly twenty points at the top of the table in the end.

The previous campaign had been a similar situation. Napoli ran away with the title as far and away the strongest team in the Italian top flight.

One team could always break away in similar fashion over the coming weeks and months.

But as things stand, things look very tight at the top.

Right now, all of Inter, Juventus, and Napoli are within a result of each other at the top of the Serie A table. The Partenopei lead the way with sixteen points.

Lazio are also in that cluster at the top.

Then, Milan are not too far behind despite some early setbacks. And the likes of Atalanta and Roma can hardly be ruled out of contention at this early stage.

Claudio Ranieri: “Inter Milan Still The Favourites” For Serie A Title

In the view of iconic former coach Ranieri, “I remain of the opinion that Inter are the favouritesm for the title.”

“The Nerazzurri are reigning champions of Italy,” he noted.

“They have two starting-quality players in each position.”

Ranieri suggested that “It’s no coincidence that Inzaghi is rotating his squad.”

“But I expect a more competitive title race than last season,” Ranieri predicted.

Ranieri, who has coached all of Inter, Juventus, and Napoli in his long career, anticipated that “Napoli and Juventus will fight for it until the end.”

“On paper in terms of the quality they have, Milan are also in the mix,” he continued.

“But unlike wither their rivals they have yet to find the precise balance.”
