Former Italy goalkeeper Emiliano Viviano feels that current Azzurri Number One Gianluigi Donnarumma should join Inter Milan from PSG.

Viviano gave his thoughts to Italian broadcaster TV Play, via FCInterNews. He argued that the Nerazzurri need to upgrade on Yann Sommer, and that Donnarumma would be the perfect candidate.

In the last couple of months, there have been a few stray rumours linking Inter with Paris Saint-Germain keeper Donnarumma.

This would certainly constitute a major high-profile transfer.

Donnarumma has been at PSG for three and a half seasons now. He joined the Parisians from AC Milan on a free transfer in the summer of 2021.

The fact that Donnarumma has strong ties to Inter’s city rivals the Rossoneri would certainly add a layer of intrigue to the move.

Moreover, there has been no love lost between Milan fans and Donnarumma after the Italian international’s decision to leave for nothing.

So far, the transfer rumours between Donnarumma and Inter have come to absolutely nothing.

However, Nerazzurri President Beppe Marotta was coy on the matter. He did not exactly rule it out.

Emiliano Viviano: “Gianluigi Donnarumma Should Join Inter From PSG”

Former keeper Viviano said that “Yann Sommer’s performances have dropped off.”

“I don’t want to seem like a know-it-all,” the 39-year-old continued. “But I judge a goalkeeper through different eyes.”

“When I give the example of Ivan Provedel, who for me is a normal keeper. Neither great nor poor… He does many things well, and Sommer does them a little better.”

“But in the last year, he’s made a number of individual errors at Inter.”

Viviano argued that Sommer “is good in the buildup phase.”

“He covers the space. He does a lot of things that don’t get noticed.”

“But this summer, it would be one of the first things I’d do,” Viviano argued of the importance of replacing Sommer.

“I’m a fan of Josep Martinez,” the veteran former keeper continued. “But he can’t be the starting keeper for Inter right now.”

Viviano noted that “Inter blew the league with their backup keeper, Radu.”

“There would be a couple of keepers out there right now who would be good business,” he added. “Like Alisson.”

“If I were an Inter director I’d sign Gigio Donnarumma,” Viviano continued. “For obvious reasons, particularly his age.”

“And if I were Donnarumma, I would still join Inter. Despite his past with AC Milan.”
