Former Mamelodi Sundowns defender Lucas Suarez has signed for Argentine outfit Club Atletico Sarmiento Junin on a 12-month loan deal from Club Atletico Talleres.
The 30-year-old was on a six-month loan at Uruguayan Primera Division side Liverpool Futbol Club on the back of returning from his loan spell with the South African champions in June 2025.
Interestingly, both Liverpool and Sundowns opted against exercising the buy option in their respective loan deals with Talleres for Suarez.
During his spell with the Tshwane giants, the Argentina international made 14 appearances across all competitions, chipping in with a solitary goal in the process.
While he impressed in his early days, a costly error against Kaizer Chiefs in the Nedbank Cup semi-final proved to initiate his downfall as he was subsequently dropped.
Furthermore, Suarez was left out of Sundowns' squad for the FIFA Club World Cup in the United States, which signaled he was surplus to requirements at Chloorkop.
Despite his disappointing stay with Masandawana, the center-back lifted the Betway Premiership - his only league title in his professional football career.
