Former Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood has addressed speculation surrounding his future at Marseille, amidst rumours that he could be on his way back to the Premier League.

Greenwood has enjoyed a prolific season with Marseille following his £26million exit from United last summer.

He is the second top goalscorer in Ligue 1 this season, having struck an impressive 19 goals. Only Paris Saint-Germain’s Ousmane Dembele has found the back of the net more times than Greenwood (21).

Greenwood’s performances have been crucial to helping Marseille seal a return to the Champions League. Despite his heroics, the player has faced criticism at certain points of the campaign from supporters, who have taken issue with his work rate.

Even Marseille boss Roberto De Zerbi slammed his application and briefly dropped him. It has been suggested that the French giants are not desperate to keep Greenwood, following suggestions that two unnamed Premier League clubs are exploring the possibility of bringing him back to England.

Another report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that Liverpool are keen on signing the Carrington academy graduate.

Greenwood has also been strongly linked to La Liga champions Barcelona.

However, the 23-year-old has insisted he is happy at Marseille and has currently has no desire to seek a fresh challenge.

He said at a press conference [as quoted by The Mirror], “I hope to be here next year for the Champions League. All the other players tell me that the stadium is something special. I think it’s been a very positive season , we’ve reached our objective.”

“I feel at home here. I recently had a baby here with my girlfriend.”

He added, “Not a lot of people get to experience that kind of thing here and with all my teammates and coaches I would like to thank them all.”

Meanwhile, United are back in action next week when they face Tottenham Hotspur in the Europa League final.
