Inter Milan wingback Matteo Darmian will be ready to return from injury against Atalanta in the Supercoppa Italiana.
This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews. They report that Benjamin Pavard and Francesco Acerbi, meanwhile, are touch and go for the match.
Inter wingback Darmian suffered a blow to the knee during Inter’s Coppa Italia match against Udinese.
That was enough to keep the 35-year-old from playing against Como last Monday.
And moreover, Darmian will miss this evening’s match as well.
Inter travel to Sardinia to take on Cagliari in their final match of 2024. And Darmian is not going to rush back into the squad.
Darmian’s injury is not overly serious, however.
The former Manchester United and Torino defender is simply not rushing back. He is prioritizing fully healing from his injury.
Therefore, over the coming days, there is little doubt that Darmian will return to full fitness.
As such, the Italian international can be in the squad for Inter’s Supercoppa Italiana semifinal against Atalanta next week.
Less certain is whether defenders Francesco Acerbi and Benjamin Pavard can return from thigh injuries for the match.
