Louis Saha hails City’s midfield after they moved three points clear at top

Manchester City are the strongest team in this season’s Premier League title race.

Man City moved to the top of the table on Sunday thanks to a 5-3 victory over Sunderland which maintained their 100 per cent winning start to the new season.

The win took them three points clear of rivals and reigning champions Arsenal, who were beaten 3-0 at Brighton on Saturday, and Saha feels Man City are now the ones to beat.

He told Sky Sports: “I think everyone can say that Arsenal had the best momentum even if they lost it towards the end (of last season).

“I think now City understood their mistakes - even if they still have young players coming through, they have this experience.

The former France international is also impressed with Man City’s depth of options, adding: “On the bench as well (they are strong) because Jeremy Doku is coming back - it’s frightening.”

With five wins from five games thus far, City could hardly have made a better start to the campaign.

However, boss Enzo Maresca would not have been happy to see Sunderland equalise twice at the Etihad Stadium, while the points were only secured when Erling Haaland made it 5-3 with nine minutes remaining.

It was the Norwegian’s fifth Premier League goal of the season and he already leads the race for the Golden Boot.

City’s next Premier League game will be at Liverpool on October 11. The day before, Arsenal will aim to return to the summit by beating Leeds at home.

The Gunners are due to host City during the last weekend in November, a game which will be a major test for both sides in the title race.
