Despite boasting the division’s best scoring record, Cristian Chivu’s men have struggled defensively.

Indeed, the San Siro giants have already netted a whopping 24 goals, averaging 2.4 goals per game.

Therefore, Inter Milan have scored at least eight more goals than any other Serie A team after the opening ten rounds.

However, the Nerazzurri have conceded an alarming 12 goals – at least four more than any other current top-four side.

For comparison, Napoli have conceded eight, while Roma only capitulated five times in their first ten league outings under Gian Piero Gasperini.

Furthermore, Inter have failed to keep a clean sheet in only four Serie A fixtures this term.

“In the last 19 Serie A seasons, limiting the analysis to the post-Calciopoli era, the teams that have won the Scudetto while also boasting the best defense in the league have been 14.

“That means it happens more than two times out of three.

“Why am I saying this? Because among those title-winning sides are Mourinho’s Inter (2008–09 and 2009–10), Conte’s Inter (2020–21), and Inzaghi’s Inter (2023–24), all of which lifted the title with the best defensive record in the league.

“Therefore, the current Inter side’s numbers – 12 goals conceded in 10 matches -should sound like a clear warning bell,” Ziliani wrote in his analysis.

Despite posting their tenth league win of the season against Hellas Verona, Inter failed to keep a clean sheet yesterday.
