Hebburn Town have had academy goalkeepers from Sunderland and Middlesbrough, Dan Cameron and Nathan Fisher, join sessions as they gear up for their first National League North season. According to Sunderland Echo, the Hornets begin pre-season this week.

They defied expectations last term, seeing off FC United of Manchester and Hednesford Town to win the Northern Premier League Premier Division only a year after a bottom-half finish. Manager Daniel Moore has moved quickly, adding Tom Allan, Elliot Forbes and Jake Charles.

Goalkeeper coach Carl Morris oversaw work with Callum Dobson, Sam Taylor and Josh Skelton, with Cameron and Fisher involved. Cameron, 20, had loans at the Trustmark Group Stadium late in 2024/25 and again last season, was recalled by Sunderland in March, then finished with Boston, and will leave later this month following confirmation of his release.

Fisher, 21, has been released by Middlesbrough. He joined Middlesbrough from Sunderland’s academy in summer 2021 and featured alongside current South Shields forward Sonny Finch and Isaac Fletcher. There is no indication Hebburn are considering a move for either goalkeeper.

Morris said the pair’s presence benefits his group, giving the younger keepers a clear view of how full-time professionals approach sessions, and he remains open to similar invitations.

Moore wants further competition for Dobson and is exploring a loan return for Sunderland youngster Isaac Allan. He believes Allan showed maturity and ability last season and could progress to a very high level. If a deal cannot be struck, Moore hopes the keeper lands an opportunity in the National League or EFL.
