Lee Clark is being tipped to take charge at Hartlepool United, with the club yet to confirm a successor after Nicky Featherstone’s stint ended with the season finale defeat at Boston United.

According to Football Insider, Pools made a late move for Clark ahead of Lee Cattermole, and the outlet later said an agreement had been reached. The Yorkshire Post, meanwhile, reported that Clark took over at Rotherham in March on a short-term deal and there has been no official announcement on who will lead the Millers next season.

Clark finished the campaign in charge of Rotherham and had been expected to remain, while the uncertainty there has fuelled links to The Vic.

Cattermole, 38, had been the early frontrunner. Reports also suggested Steve Agnew, 60, would be his assistant. Agnew is on Salford City’s staff after joining in February, and they face Grimsby Town on Friday night in a second leg they lead 2-1.

There have been no further public developments, with supporters keen for a swift appointment to accelerate a much-needed rebuild.

Pools released 13 players last week, leaving seven under contract and offers to a further three. New owner Landon Smith and advisors Bromby and Partners face a pivotal call.
