Since joining Liverpool from Bournemouth at the start of the summer transfer window, Milos Kerkez's form has been questioned.
He may have been dubbed the Premier League's best left-back last term, but, he was far from that when he first played for Liverpool.
The Hungarian was rather hot-headed and it's only over the last month or so that he's really come into his own.
And, the fact that he's settling down a bit is really showing on the pitch with Gerrard even being impressed by the youngster after his assist for Ekitike's second of the night.
“Newcastle are all over the place, [it was] a fast, quick attack from Liverpool but it’s all about Ekitke,” he said while live on TNT Sports.
“It’s an excellent ball by Kerkez, Lewis Hall just plays them onside here, you can see Dan Burn struggling to get back, you can see Tripper trying to get back but this is all about Ekitike.”
There have been times this season when Liverpool's fans haven't even known whether their team would end up qualifying for the Champions League.
Indeed, they may have gone on a five-game unbeaten streak at the start of the campaign but, since then, cracks have started to show.
If Liverpool perform to the level that they showed against Newcastle in the second half of the first 45 minutes then there won't be a team that can get near them.
However, due to their inconsistency, that doesn't feel all that likely to happen.
But, the fact that players such as Ekitike, Wirtz and Kerkez are all starting to find their feet, means that Liverpool could be onto a winner sooner than many fans think.
