The Owls have made eight signings already this summer, but the hard work isn't expected to stop there
Sheffield Wednesday have already been hard at work this summer to rebuild the squad ahead of their League One return.
The Owls side was gutted over the last 12 months. Players left for free due to their contracts being breached after late payments towards the end of the Dejphon Chansiri era; those who were out of contract last summer were free to leave, and during their recent period of administration, they had to rely on emergency loans that are no longer there.
But the club are now under fresh ownership and are undertaking a new direction, with a sporting director hired for the first time at Hillsborough this summer, after Chansiri didn't utilise one at all during his decade at the helm.
David Storch and the Arise consortium moved to bring in highly-rated Simon Wilson after his six-year stint at Stockport County, in which he was credited with their rise from non-league to the cusp of the Championship, came to an end.
Already, seven new faces have arrived at Sheffield Wednesday this summer, and one very familiar returning face in Barry Bannan, but the work is definitely not done just yet.

Last week was a very busy one at Sheffield Wednesday when it came down to new arrivals, with Bannan, Harry Gray, Louie Barry and Joe Lumley all being brought in.
The latter was announced four days ago, and Owls fans have been waiting impatiently to see who may be next to join Henrik Pedersen's side to help bring in the new era at Hillsborough.
Wednesday played a pre-season friendly at local non-league side Hallam on Tuesday night, which saw a youthful Owls side take to the pitch in either half and first team coaches Giles Coke and Pete Shuttleworth took charge instead of Pedersen.
Following the goalless draw, Shuttleworth spoke to the Sheffield Star about how busy things are behind the scenes as the Owls work towards their ninth signing of the summer.
"I know Simon [Wilson] is working really hard on it," he said. "I know last week we had a really good week where we brought three or four in.
"Obviously I would expect more to come; I know they are working really hard, Simon and the recruitment team, to make sure we have got a really competitive squad."

It feels like forever since Sheffield Wednesday were able to celebrate a new signing knowing that they'll be staying with the Owls for the foreseeable future.
Last summer was torture watching player after player depart and being replaced by academy products who had yet to make a senior appearance in their careers.
Therefore, you can forgive Wednesday fans for getting a little carried away, not only by the fact they're signing players, but at the calibre of player they are signing, too. The likes of Barry, Callum Slattery and even Bannan have the potential to be amongst the best in their position in League One next season.
But the reality is that the rebuild is far from over, and there'll need to be close to 10 more additions just to bulk out the senior squad and add more quality where necessary to help prepare Henrik Pedersen for the campaign. That's not exactly a negative thing, though.
There have been few complaints surrounding the new arrivals at Hillsborough thus far amongst the Owls fanbase, and if there's more where they came from, Sheffield Wednesday could be in for an exciting season.
