Three League Two clubs are keen on Bristol Rovers' Jevani Brown, Football League World has learned
Three League Two clubs in Colchester United, Fleetwood Town and Gillingham are chasing a potential transfer deal for Bristol Rovers forward Jevani Brown, Football League World can exclusively reveal.
Speculation is intensifying heading into the back-end of the January transfer window, and clubs will be eager to complete deals ahead of the deadline on February 3.
There have been some significant deals made in League Two already and another could well involve Brown, who is a target for at least three clubs across English football's fourth-tier.
Sources close to FLW have revealed Brown is a target for the League Two trio amid an uncertain future back at Bristol Rovers. Brown, of course, spent time with Colchester prior to his switch to Exeter City, which will surely be factored into his thinking as he runs the rule over his next potential destination.
The 30-year-old, who can play as either an attacking midfielder or a striker, enjoyed two successful campaigns in League One with Exeter before completing a switch to Rovers in the summer of 2023.
But Brown's debut campaign at the Memorial Stadium was a disappointing one as he scored just two goals and made six assists from 41 appearances across all competitions.
Having signed on a two-year contract, it had looked as though Brown had made his final bow for Rovers when he joined League Two promotion hopefuls Notts County at the start of the season, though he made just four league starts before returning prematurely this month.
Brown, who has significant experience in the third and fourth-tier, had looked to be something of a coup for County but the deal did not go as planned and his next move could be to a side with more modest ambitions for the rest of the season.
It's not yet known just how advanced the trio's interest in the forward is, but it is understood he is a target. Just what the immediate future has in store at Rovers waits to be seen, as Matt Taylor - who sanctioned Brown's underwhelming switch to Meadow Lane - has since been replaced by former Brighton and Hove Albion youth coach Inigo Calderon.
Rovers are in the midst of a striker crisis with Promise Omochere injured long-term, but it's still unlikely Brown will be displacing the likes of Ruel Sotriou and Chris Martin, or Isaac Hutchinson in attacking midfield behind the striker.
Brown's contract situation, coupled with his short-lived stint with the Magpies and the difficult first season he endured with the Gas, means Rovers will surely be looking to give the green-light to a permanent exit as opposed to another temporary move away from the club, and they face no shortage of suitors.
