Chelsea’s season hangs in the balance after a bad result against Ipswich yesterday, but that won’t stop those upstairs at the club cracking on with buying players for the future.

The latest we’re hearing from our sources is that the the Blues’ scouts are following the development of Las Palmas’ starlet Alberto Moleiro.

The scouts of the Blues closely watched the highly rated attacker’s recent matches against Alavés, Celta Vigo, Real Sociedad and Getafe to assess his abilities. Moleiro’s “agility, upright playing style and effective connections with his teammates” were noted to us as particular strengths that the player had shown which had impressed Chelsea scouts and brought the club’s attention into sharper focus.

As always, there will be no shortage of interest in a talent who should be entering his prime and has already shown great ability for his age. The 21-year-old is on the radar of not just Chelsea, but also the leading clubs in Europe and the world, like Atlético Madrid, Arsenal, Liverpool and Inter Milan.

Las Palmas are hoping to get offers in the €30m-35m range for the latest footballing jewel to come from the Canary Islands.

Chelsea will need to clear attacking space before they buy

Chelsea don’t really need another attacker or winger, given Estevao Willian arrives this summer and Geovany Quenda arrives next summer. But with Mykhailo Mudryk facing a long ban, the Blues could yet make a move if they decide to terminate Jadon Sancho’s loan without buying him permanently, or if they decide to move on the likes of Noni Madueke this summer.

That’s still a big “if”, but the rate at which we churn though players under this ownership certainly means it’s not impossible. Moleiro could very well be on the radar.
