After Josh Acheampong failed to start against Port Vale there was another wave of frustration among Chelsea fans about how their latest academy talent was being treated. We got another dose of it last night after he played just 2 minutes against Man City.
The club had been briefing after the game a week ago that there were no plans to sell the 19 year old, as fans lamented that he was going to the “new Lewis Hall.”
They may not plan to sell him, but there is certainly interest. Top German transfer insider Christian Falk has today confirmed Bayern Munich’s interest in the elegant defender.
“The youngster’s rapid rise has not gone unnoticed, and Bayern Munich are understood to be monitoring his progress closely,” a piece on his site claims.
Bayern would have to sell a current option like Kim Min-jae, but regardless of whether the German giants actually make a bid for Josh, it’s just another reminder that clubs are watching this situation.
Moises Caicedo ended up as the Blues’ lowest rated player, although we’d hardly blame him for that. His error didn’t end up meaning much.
Jorrel Hato stayed positive, saying Chelsea have a good chance of making the Champions League after the defeat. We’d have to disagree with that.
