Incoming Liverpool attacker Bradley Barcola has established himself as one of European football’s most exciting young forwards, but long before he was starring on the biggest stages, he was developing his game at Lyon alongside players who saw his potential first-hand.

One of those players was Tino Kadewere, who shared the pitch with Barcola during his time at Lyon and witnessed the winger’s emergence from a highly-rated academy prospect into a first-team player.

“Fantastic player and also a great person in general, he knows what he wants and he wants to be put all his mind when its time to work and outside of football just a huge and admirable personality.”

“I played alongside him in so many games with the reserve team, and also the first team, and I just know that it was always a joy and amazing. Honestly, did go very well with him. Always when I played with him, because he is too fast, so he continues for a cross or comes inside to combine.”

Signing a player of this quality is certainly a major signal of intent from Liverpool; however, it is also undoubtedly one that needs to be followed by at least one more in the attacking department. 

Whilst the Frenchman, clearly possessing lightning pace, will bring a whole new dimension and added impetus to the frontline, without appropriate midfield steel behind it’s hard to see how the Reds can truly capitalise on the Lyon-born ace’s powers. 

That said, hearing another glowing endorsement from a former teammate is still pleasing and a nod towards what could be a successful switch.
