Hull City are plotting a move for Millwall starlet Femi Azeez, Football League World has learned
Millwall have enjoyed a busy and promising summer transfer window to date, but the Lions could be poised to face a significant blow involving the future of Femi Azeez - as Football League World can now exclusively reveal that Hull City are expressing an active interest in luring the star forward away from south-east London this month.
The Lions have been eager to get to work after crashing out to the Tigers in the play-off semi-finals back in May, having narrowly missed out on automatic promotion behind second-placed Ipswich Town.
Alex Neil has since bolstered his squad with numerous fresh acquisitions, though, striking deals to bring the likes of Danny Batth and Mark Sykes to The Den alongside younger recruits in Tairyk Arconte, Elkan Baggott, Kyrell Lisbie - whose signing was first revealed by FLW - Jenson Metcalfe and Mathis Servais.
Indeed, the Scotsman is undertaking something of a squad rebuilding process after electing to sanction a number of departures, too, but whereas the exit door has been opened by Millwall's own volition to date, Azeez's potential outgoing would be very much out of the promotion hopefuls' hands - yet that possibility could just be growing following Hull's new display of interest.
Speculation surrounding Azeez's future has been surprisingly quiet this summer, which comes after Ipswich reportedly lodged an unsuccessful £20 million bid for the 25-year-old in the wake of achieving promotion.

However, there is no guarantee that the Lions will be able to retain Azeez for a third season following some electric exploits in the 2025/26 term, which saw the talented winger inspire his side's run to the play-offs by contributing 11 goals and seven assists from 37 outings.
Millwall would, of course, hate to lose Azeez so close to the start of the new campaign, but with just under two weeks remaining before Neil's outfit commence their season with a trip to Bristol City, FLW can disclose fresh interest from Hull.
Sources have revealed that the Tigers are eyeing a move for the two-cap Nigerian international as Acun Ilicali looks to up the ante on his side's transfer business ahead of life in the Premier League, with a number of incomings in the offing at the MKM Stadium.
For now, at least, precisely how far the top-flight new boys are willing to extend their pursuit remains unclear, and previous reports have signaled that Millwall are holding out for a stunning £30 million figure considering that Azeez's current contract still has two years to run.
That means a deal will hardly prove easy to broker and Millwall are able to occupy a strong bargaining position in negotiations, but although the ball is very much in the Lions' court, every player has a price and it's difficult to see interest in Azeez being warmly received from a club who could inflict yet another blow after dumping them out of the play-offs.
There is no present indication that Azeez intends on leaving Millwall, having moved to The Den from Reading two years ago. However, the prospect of Premier League football can invariably offer a layer of temptation that could be too appealing to turn down for the player in question - even if Millwall will be driving a hard bargain to entertain the idea of parting company with the wide-man.
Azeez established himself as one of the Championship's most influential attackers last time out and retaining his services for another promotion push would represent a real statement of intent from Millwall, who may need to convince the ex-Royals flyer to stick around in order to stake their claim for a surge towards the Premier League in 2027.
