Manchester United winger Antony is getting ever closer to sealing a permanent transfer to Real Betis, albeit on an unconventional formula.

The Brazilian spent the second half of the campaign on loan at the Spanish club. His ‘outstanding’ displays rendered him an instant hit with the club’s supporters, while opponents struggled to cope with his skills and trickery.

The 25-year-old contributed with nine goals and five assists during his short stay, which are significant figures, especially when compared to the 12 goals and five assists he registered throughout two and a half years at Man Utd.

Therefore, Betis are keen to find a way to keep Antony at the club, and the player himself is in favour of this solution.

Antony willing to reduce his wages to seal Man United exit

According to sources close to Stretty News, the stars could be lining up for Betis and Antony, especially with the player giving his preference to the Andalusian club and even accepting a wage cut to push the move through.

But due to financial difficulties, the Green and White club can only allocate €20 million to conclude this operation, which is well below United’s asking price.

Hence, the Conference League finalists are seeking a creative solution that would see them only purchasing a certain percentage of the player’s economic rights for €20 million, with an obligation to buy the remaining part a year later. Hence, it remains to be seen if United would consent to this unusual formula.

Antony gives priority to Real Betis move

Our sources can also confirm that Aston Villa and Brentford have enquired about Antony, but the tricky winger has clearly given his preference to Betis.

The player’s stance shouldn’t come as a surprise, as his brief Spanish experience has revitalised his career after 30 miserable months at Old Trafford.

As for Man Utd, they will be hoping to recoup the highest possible sum from the £86 million they spent to buy the Brazilian from Ajax in the summer of 2022.
