The ex-Swans and Northampton gaffers are in the frame to replace Ferguson as Posh manager, FLW understands.
Ex-Swansea City manager Luke Williams and former Northampton Town boss Jon Brady are in the frame for the newly vacant Peterborough United job, Football League World has exclusively been informed.
It's been a rough start to the 2025/26 season for Posh.
With just three wins from their opening 13 League One outings this season, Peterborough sit rock bottom of the third tier, and are staring at yet another fight for survival this term.
However, change is now coming to the Weston Homes Stadium, as following Saturday's 2-1 defeat at home to Blackpool, the club made the tough decision to axe potentially the club's greatest ever manager, Darren Ferguson, after his fourth stint in charge of the club.

As such, whoever follows Ferguson into the Posh job faces an incredibly difficult challenge, both on the pitch to steer the side clear of relegation danger, and to follow in the footsteps of the legendary Peterborough figure.
Football League World has exclusively been informed that former Swansea City manager Luke Williams and ex-Northampton Town boss Jon Brady are two candidates in the frame to take on that task.
Williams, 43, has been out of work since February of this year, having spent 12 months in charge of Swansea City, having taken charge of the South Wales outfit in January of last year.
Prior to that, he was in charge of Notts County between June 2022-January 2024, during which he led the Magpies to promotion from the National League to League Two during his first season in charge of the club, which was the same year that they were narrowly pipped to the title by Wrexham despite registering 107 points.
He was handed his first managerial role by Swindon Town in December 2015 though, where he would remain until 2017 before taking on coaching roles with Bristol City and MK Dons respectively.
Brady, on the other hand, has been looking for a new role since December of last year, having been relieved of his duties by Northampton Town having taken over back in February 2021.
The 50-year-old guided the club to League Two promotion in the 2022/23 season, and began his managerial career back in 2009 with non-league side Brackley Town.

Peterborough United can't seem to stop themselves from sliding down the slippery slope they're on.
It was only in 2022 that the club were playing Championship football, but after sixth and fourth-placed finishes in League One in the two seasons that followed their 2021/22 relegation from the second tier, Posh are now fighting their battles at the wrong end of the division.
The club narrowly escaped the drop last term, finishing just five points above the relegation zone, despite the fact that last season also saw them lift silverware at Wembley Stadium, beating Birmingham City in the EFL Trophy final.
Many Posh fans hoped that victory would be the catalyst for the club to start kicking on in the right direction again, but after the opening quarter of the current campaign, those hopes are quickly being extinguished.
Therefore, whether it's Williams, Brady, or someone else, Peterborough United must ensure that they get what is perhaps the biggest managerial appointment decision in many years right, as it could have severe consequences if they don't.
