Exclusive: Portsmouth forward left fuming after moves to Bolton & Southend blocked | OneFootball

Portsmouth have blocked loan offers from Bolton Wanderers and Southend United for forward Reeco Lee Hackett-Fairchild, Football Insider can reveal.

The 22-year-old has been left fuming by the club’s decision after negotiations over his temporary exit collapsed.

A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Pompey wanted the forward’s wages paid in full and Bolton only offered to pay half of them.

Hackett-Fairchild moved to Portsmouth from National League side Bromley in January and put pen to paper on a two-and-a-half year contract at Fratton Park.

However, he has struggled to establish himself on the south coast, in part due to injury, and has only one EFL Trophy appearance to his name.

The striker rose up the ranks at Fulham and Brighton & Hove Albion before joining Dagenham & Redbridge.

He impressed while a member of Dagenham’s Under-18 side and earned a move to Charlton in 2016 where he scored twice in 24 appearances.

Hackett-Fairchild’s most prolific spell came at Bromley – he scored eight goals in 23 appearances at the beginning of the 2019/20 National League campaign before moving to Fratton Park.

Football Insider revealed last week that Hull City and Colchester United were among several sides in the hunt to sign the attacker this season.

Portsmouth boss Kenny Jackett is happy to send him out on loan this summer and there is no shortage of suitors.

Bolton are keen to add Hackett-Fairchild to their ranks with new Wanderers boss Ian Evatt overseeing a squad overhaul at the University of Bolton Stadium following the club’s relegation to League Two this year.
