QPR midfielder Sam Field is likely to leave Loftus Road amid interest from clubs in the Championship and MLS, Football League World understands

QPR are poised to sanction further outgoings ahead of the February 2 transfer deadline and Sam Field is being lined up as a likely departure from Loftus Road this month with a host of interested parties keeping tabs on his situation, Football League World has learned.

Just yesterday, FLW exclusively revealed that Alfie Lloyd was set to join League One promotion hopefuls Lincoln City on loan for the remainder of the season.

FLW also broke the news of Murphy Cooper's loan switch to Championship crisis club Sheffield Wednesday last week following his half-season stay at Barnsley, with the shot-stopper - much like Lloyd - having been recalled from a temporary stint elsewhere to seal a fresh move.

Meanwhile, 25-year-old midfielder Elijah Dixon-Bonner has joined Wealdstone on loan and striker Michael Frey is reportedly set to leave West London before the end of the month after seeing his game-time reduced significantly under Julien Stephan.

The Frenchman is vying to take QPR into the play-offs this term, with the 11th-placed R's currently four points shy of Preston North End in sixth.

The Loftus Road faithful will be hoping for more signings in the coming week to add to the two permanent acquisitions of popular defender Ronnie Edwards and Justin Obikwu from Coventry City, though Stephan continues to intend on streamlining his squad and that is poised to have a big effect on Field's future with the club.

Sam Field, QPR transfer twist emerges as Loftus Road exit looms

Football League World can exclusively reveal that Field is likely to leave QPR before the window slams shut at the beginning of February, with a decision having now seemingly been made on the midfielder's future.

FLW understands that a number of QPR's Championship rivals, along with MLS outfits, are lining up moves for the 27-year-old, who has played a more peripheral role with the play-off hopefuls following Stephan's appointment last summer.

Field is not short of suitors both domestically and across the Atlantic despite starting just nine of his 15 appearances for the Hoops this term, often finding himself behind Nicolas Madsen and Jonathan Varane in a two-man starting midfield under Stephan.

The West Bromwich Albion academy product has made close to 200 appearances for QPR overall since signing for the club permanently from the Baggies in June 2021, and enjoyed a standout 2022/23 campaign by featuring in every Championship outing and winning both the Fan's and Player's Player of the Season awards at Loftus Road.

However, Field's importance to QPR has diminished in recent times and the exit door now beckons.

QPR's Sam Field would be a useful signing for many Championship clubs

Field has lost his way at QPR this season and is no longer the integral midfield stalwart he once was for the Hoops, but that's not to say he wouldn't be a shrewd acquisition for a number of sides lower down the second-tier table.

He's a dependable ball-winning midfielder with extensive Championship experience and know-how, and that profile evidently appeals to a fair few suitors.

Field penned a contract extension last summer, the length of which remains officially undisclosed, but with the midfield man no longer featuring prominently in the club's plans, it's no surprise that second-tier rivals are looking to seal his signature in what remains of this month's window.
