It was decided last year that competitive football was the next step for Kaleta, with the right-back joining Scottish Premiership side Motherwell before returning to the Midlands.

Rotherham sign Marvin Kaleta from Wolves as summer rebuild continues

However, the player is on the move again, as FLW has been told that the Millers have agreed a two-year deal for Kaleta, who will join Matt Hamshaw’s squad on a permanent basis.

This will give the youngster the chance to play regularly, and he has no doubt been earmarked for a wing-back role if the Rotherham chief continues with a back three formation moving forward, which will allow him to utilise his pace and energy down the right flank.

This continues a theme for the Millers’ summer recruitment, as they have generally targeted younger players to add to the squad, with none of the senior additions so far being older than 25.

Marvin Kaleta will be desperate to prove himself in League One

That strategy is one that makes sense, and Rotherham know that Kaleta will be desperate to prove himself in the third tier, as he looks to make a name for himself.

Of course, with all players of that age, there are areas of Kaleta’s game that he must improve, but he has the physicality to cope with the demands of the third tier of English football.

He did well with Motherwell last season, making 21 league appearances, and that will have been a great learning experience for Kaleta, in what was his first season where he was involved regularly at a professional level.

So, he will be looking to build on that with Rotherham, and he will look to force his way into the XI on a consistent basis over the next few years.
