The EFL Pundit has given his verdict on the Owls' takeover, once again hitting the rocks

Former Aston Villa midfielder Lee Hendrie has expressed his worry once more as Sheffield Wednesday's proposed takeover has once again stalled.

The new Championship season is almost three weeks away, and the uncertainty doesn't seem to be going away at Hillsborough. An unnamed buyer's proposed takeover of the club has completely stalled, according to a report from the Sheffield Star.

The Owls' owner, Dejphon Chansiri, is still open to a sale, and the report also states that there is plenty of interest in the club. Ultimately, it is up to him to entrust the right people to find a buyer soon, ideally with enough time before the season starts.

The current EFL pundit showed empathy towards Sheffield Wednesday fans, as he knows that they need a resolution, and the increased uncertainty is creating extra concern surrounding player futures and how the club will operate going into what will be a tough Championship season.

Lee Hendrie raises issues surrounding Sheffield Wednesday's takeover stalling

Speaking exclusively to Football League World, Sky Sports pundit Lee Hendrie spoke about Sheffield Wednesday's takeover updates, and stressed how it isn't great news for Owls fans, with the new season close to getting underway.

"It's not what the fans will want to hear," he said. "They'll want it resolved, as if you haven't got the off-field situation resolved, how can you get your manager in place?

"How can you get your players in place? And how are you meant to get your players to buy into what's going to happen?"

Despite returning to his post, manager Danny Rohl's future at Sheffield Wednesday remains unclear, and the squad is depleting day by day, with Djeidi Gassama being sold to Rangers for a cut fee and both Josh Windass and Michael Smith's contracts ending at the club, too.

"I think everyone involved in the football club, from the fans to the players and staff, doesn't know what's going on," Hendrie continued.

"The season is just around the corner, and there are so many things going on, and none of them are good things, which gives them positive news.

"It's hearsay's, possibly's, could be's, and this needs to be a yes or no situation. They need to find a solution to get themselves ready for the new season."

Despite this, Hendrie believes that something will be in place ahead of Wednesday's league opener against Leicester City. Whether this will be wholly positive or not is yet to be seen, but he believes that it won't be a complete disaster before the start of the Championship campaign.

"I'm sure they will [do something], but all the uncertainty doesn't help the football club going into a season, particularly in the Championship, because it will be a competitive season."

Sheffield Wednesday needs to find clarity soon regarding a potential takeover

Whilst Wednesday fans haven't exactly welcomed the news of a £7,000 per week wage cap and a three-window fee restriction, at least the facts are straight surrounding this, which isn't the case regarding a potential takeover.

The prospect has been on and off for weeks now, similarly to Danny Rohl's future, and whilst Wednesday fans will have their opinions on what outcome they would like, they can at least all agree that having clarity is a must.

The uncertainty surrounding the state of play this close to the season is what drives the most concern. Djeidi Gassama was sold to help offload wages for the previous two months, but will others need to be sold to pay other clubs what they owe them? Will Danny Rohl's side begin the season with a point deduction? Will Rohl even be in the dugout?

The bleakness of the situation is made even worse by a lack of clarity, as it allows people to fear the worst. And the sooner decisions can be made, the easier it will be for the club and its fans to plan around it.
