Newcastle United announced on a week past Monday, how they were selling/allocating Carabao Cup Final Tickets to NUFC fans.
Both Liverpool and Newcastle United each given 31,939 tickets plus 257 for disabled supporters.
A total allocation of 32,196.
Two years against Manchester United, the allocation was a total of 32,761 for each club.
That means 565 tickets less, for each of the two fanbases.
If you ever wondered where the other 25,000 tickets or so went, then you will get some clues via this Exeter City official announcement. We highlighted the same thing two years ago when playing Man U at Wembley.
It is of course even worse in the FA Cup, even fewer tickets going to the fans of the two finalists.
Exeter City are one of very few clubs that are owned by the fans.
So no doubt this is why they are being more transparent about this process.
As for all of the other 89 clubs in the four divisions…what do they do with their allocations?
Even if just a dozen per club that is over a thousand tickets. Do non-league clubs also get an allocation?
Would these clubs really be bothered if they didn’t get a ticket allocation for a game that they aren’t playing in?
Another point, there are five categories of tickets on sale to Newcastle United fans and Exeter City have £97 ones, which are the second best category of tickets, £108 the top ones. Why should neutrals get the best tickets???
Exeter City official announcement – 18 February 2025:
Carabao Cup Final: Ticket Draw Applications Invited
This year’s EFL Carabao League Cup Final will be between Liverpool and Newcastle with a 16:30 kick-off at Wembley Stadium on Sunday, March 16.
The Club hope to receive their full allocation of 12 tickets which we will be in 6 pairs. This year they will be allocated as follows:
1 pair to Exeter City Community Trust 2 pairs to the Club 3 pairs to Trust members (2 pairs Liverpool, 1 pair Newcastle) Our three pairs of tickets are offered, as usual, to those Exeter City Supporters Trust members wishing to go in the “right to buy” draw for them, one pair for each team @ £97 (the same price as last season) a ticket so £194 for a pair.

The Trust and Club are delighted to announce that we will have three pairs of EFL CARABAO Cup Final tickets on offer for Trust members to buy.
As an English Football League Club, Exeter City automatically enter the EFL Cup, and this entitles the Club to purchase a number of tickets for the Final. This year we have two pairs of tickets for the Liverpool area and one pair of tickets for the Newcastle area.
The seats are normally on the side near the halfway line, in amongst Blocks 103-5 and 140-2 respectively – check here to see the potential view from those seats wembleystadium.com/plan-your-visit/stadium-guide/view-from-your-seat. These will be, as always, some of the best seats available and well worth the extra expense.
At most Clubs these are normally all passed out or sold to Directors, Management or members of the playing staff but Exeter City are continuing the policy of making sure charity partners, staff, and Trust members split the allocation and this year the Trust has six tickets, available in three pairs for Trust members to buy.
Please note this match is subject to extra time and penalties if the score remains even at full time. The match could therefore finish approximately 1 hour and 45 mins after kick off (if completed in ‘normal’ time); 2 hours and 20 mins after kick off (if extra time is played); or up to 2 hours and 50 mins after kick off (if extra time and penalties are required). Getting away from the stadium can then also be quite a slow process so transport should be planned accordingly.
More details can be found as they are updated on the Wembley Website at wembleystadium.com/events/2025/Carabao-Cup-Final
You can only wear appropriate colours for whichever area you take tickets for. No colours from other teams, even our own, are allowed. However normally, whilst not wearing their colours, you can be [quietly] supporting the opposing team to the area you are in, as the area is normally friendly with supporters from various other teams who have received them in the same way as ourselves.
The other conditions that apply are that should you be successful you MUST use one yourself and then take whoever you like with you but you CANNOT take payment for the second ticket and you must sign a disclaimer covering these points when buying the tickets. A contract will be provided for signature.
How to Apply If you wish to be entered for the draw for the right to buy one pair of tickets then please comply with the following instructions.
We are happy to receive applications by phone, in writing, or by e-mail to me using my normal contact details as listed below but these need to be done by midnight on Friday 28 February:
(ED: Here at The Mag we have taken out these details as it was a named person and seemingly their personal home address and contact numbers)
We will then hope to make the draw on Saturday 1 or Sunday 2 March once validation checks are completed. We will advise the winners during the following week, however we will not be announcing the results of the draw until after we receive details about the tickets we are to receive so should that be delayed then we will delay the announcement and I’ll advise all entrants if that happens.
Once the winners are announced you will then need to await confirmation that we have received the tickets which will be electronic.
Once received by the club we envisage that they will be dispatched via email to you but there will be more information on this in due course.
To apply you need to supply me with the following details and in this order please:
