The future of Robert Lewandowski is beginning to dominate transfer discussions across Europe and the Middle East after the veteran striker confirmed that he will leave Barcelona at the end of the season.

While the Polish forward’s next destination has not yet been decided, interest from Saudi Arabia is growing rapidly, with multiple clubs monitoring his situation closely ahead of the summer transfer window.

According to the latest reports from SPORT, two of the Saudi Pro League’s biggest sides, namely Al Hilal and Al-Ittihad, are currently leading the race to secure the striker’s signature.

However, despite both clubs sharing interest in Lewandowski, their situations and approaches appear very different.

What’s the story?

At Al-Hilal, discussions surrounding Lewandowski are progressing slowly for now because they first need to resolve several situations involving their current attacking options.

The club already has an overload of foreign forwards and must first finalise possible departures before creating space for another major signing.

There are also internal doubts within Al-Hilal regarding Lewandowski’s age.

The Saudi club has recently shown preference towards younger attacking profiles, and some decision-makers reportedly remain unconvinced about investing heavily in a player entering the final years of his career.

Meanwhile, Al-Ittihad appear increasingly attentive to the situation.

The Saudi side is seriously considering launching a move for the Barcelona striker, especially given the uncertainty surrounding the future of Youssef En-Nesyri, who could leave the club during the summer.

They believe his experience, goalscoring pedigree, and international profile would immediately strengthen the squad on and off the pitch.

All eyes on Lewandowski

Even with concerns about age, Lewandowski’s reputation continues to carry enormous value commercially and competitively.

While his Barcelona chapter has finished on a high note, everyone involved, including the fans, will keep a keen eye on his decision.

At the moment, Saudi Arabia appears to be leading the race, but the battle for one of European football’s most respected strikers is only just beginning.
