Barcelona are preparing for the imminent departure of one of their most highly rated academy prospects, with fresh details now emerging about the situation surrounding Pedro ‘Dro’ Fernandez.
A report from MARCA has shed further light on how the club and coaching staff are handling the final stages of what looks set to be a January exit.
Despite enjoying the full confidence of Hansi Flick, the 18-year-old attacking midfielder has made it clear that he wants to leave Barcelona immediately.
Once that decision was communicated, the situation changed dramatically.
Dro has since stopped training with the first team and has also been removed from all youth squads.
He is no longer training under the supervision of any Barcelona coach and is currently working alone.
Flick, according to the report, was deeply affected by the player’s decision, as the German coach had placed significant faith in Dro this season and saw him as one of the brightest talents to emerge from the Barça youth system in recent years.

However, once Dro made his intentions clear and insisted on leaving during the winter transfer window, Flick acted decisively.
The youngster was immediately excluded from first-team activities and has not rejoined any Barcelona squad.
That said, Barcelona have not taken any punitive measures beyond the sporting decision.
This means that since Dro remains under contract with the club until 2027, he is still permitted to use the club’s training facilities.
Neither Flick nor the club are preventing him from doing so while his representatives work on finalising a transfer.
The key difference is that he now trains alone, away from the daily environment of the first team and the academy structure.
