Grupo Ollamani has announced the sale of a 49 per cent stake in Club América to General Atlantic, with a new vehicle, Grupo Águilas, retaining 51 per cent and leaving the Azcárraga family as majority owners. According to Americayya.net, the deal also includes Estadio Banorte and adjacent land.
Claims that the Kraft family, owners of the NFL Patriots, would join as partners were incorrect.
The business, comprising the club, Estadio Banorte and surrounding plots, was valued at $490 million. General Atlantic paid $240 million for its 49 per cent holding.
General Atlantic’s role is to inject capital for sporting development, including transfers. The investor is also interested in further upgrading Estadio Banorte and modernising club operations and assets.
The agreement aims not only to strengthen finances but to widen América’s global reach and fanbase. The primary focus remains Mexico and the United States.
Kraft Analytics Group will supply technology to enhance supporter experience at Estadio Banorte, improve merchandise sales and ease access to live matches. Emilio Azcárraga will serve as executive president of Grupo Águilas and take final decisions on club matters.
