Pep Guardiola says he does not expect Omar Marmoush to return to the Manchester City squad for the game against Bodo/Glimt.

The Egypt striker has been taking part in the Africa Cup of Nations and ended the tournament with a defeat in the third-place play-off against Nigeria.

He is now set to return to Manchester, however Guardiola does not expect him to be ready to feature in the Champions League on Tuesday.

“No, I don’t think so,” he said when asked if Marmoush would be available.

But Guardiola says he is looking forward to what the forward will offer his side when he does return.

“Omar is an exceptional player, his moments in behind are extraordinary, but it would be so poor for me to say the reason why we didn’t get results today or the previous time is because Omar is not here,” Guardiola said after the Manchester derby defeat to Manchester United.
