Eze becomes first north London 'Treblemaker' in Prem era

Eberechi Eze enjoyed a fairytale first north London derby yesterday, netting three goals to claim the match-ball in the Gunners' comfortable 4-1 win over Tottenham - and he chiselled out a piece of Premier League history into the bargain.

Dating back to the start of the Premier League in 1992/93, no player had hit a hat-trick in a north London derby - until Eze's three momentous strikes on Sunday.

Deft footwork prior to the break saw Eze double the Gunners' lead after Leandro Trossard's opener, and a slick left-footed finish shortly after the interval was followed by another clinical strike from the former Crystal Palace midfielder - after Richarlison's audacious lob had cut the deficit for Spurs

Eze's glorious afternoon means he is one of only three Arsenal players EVER to hit a hat-trick in a north London derby - Ted Drake and Alan Sunderland the only other former Gunners to manage the feat.

In the process, Eze also nailed down his standing as the most productive English player in the top flight throughout 2025. The fact that Tottenham were reportedly very close to landing the England international in the summer only rubbed salt in the wounds of a Spurs side who were outclassed on the day.

Across the calendar year as a whole, for Palace and now Arsenal, Eze has 18 goal involvements (10 goals and eight assists) to his name - two more than any other Englishman.

Mikel Arteta's Gunners are now six points clear at the top of the Premier League, and the big games are coming thick and fast: Arsenal hosting Bayern Munich - and former Spurs legend Harry Kane - this Wednesday in the Champions League.
