Arsenal booked their place in the Carabao Cup fourth round with a 2-0 win over League One side  Port Vale, thanks to goals from Eberechi Eze and Leandro Trossard.

The visitors drew first blood in the eighth minute when Eze slotted home a composed finish from the middle of the box, following a clever set-up from Myles Lewis-Skelly. That early breakthrough set the tone for the rest of the match, with Arsenal dominating possession and creating a string of chances.

Port Vale put up a spirited fight and caused Arsenal problems from set-pieces throughout the game. While the score remained 1-0, the League One side had their moments, most notably when substitute Devante Cole curled a long-range effort just over the bar with around 15 minutes remaining.

The second half saw a flurry of substitutions, with Leandro Trossard, Declan Rice, Gabriel Magalhães, Viktor Gyökeres, and Max Dowman all coming on to freshen the side.

The changes paid off in the 86th minute when Trossard doubled the lead, finishing neatly from William Saliba’s precise assist.

The Gunners will now turn their focus back to the Premier League, travelling to St James’ Park to face Newcastle on Sunday.
