Ezri Konsa said he was delighted after marking his first Arsenal home start with a 2-1 win over Chelsea in a fiery London derby at the Emirates. He played a key role in a defence that helped turn the match around.

Chelsea struck early through Morgan Rogers, but the Gunners rallied to take all three points. According to Goal.com, Konsa looked composed alongside Gabriel throughout.

The centre-back contested 12 duels, more than any Arsenal team-mate, winning eight, and drew a roar with a thumping sliding tackle on Rogers that snuffed out a counter.

He praised the home support, said conceding so quickly was not ideal for a team that prides itself on clean sheets, and felt the response showed the squad’s character. He also relished the occasion and the demands of those individual battles.

Konsa started after Cristhian Mosquera suffered a muscular problem in the previous victory at Aston Villa. Despite only a short time with the group, Mikel Arteta has been impressed, noting the defender had played only 11 minutes and had five or six sessions, yet delivered high-level man-to-man work.

The 28-year-old added that Arsenal’s style suits him, with an emphasis on keeping the ball, a high line and aggressive one-on-one defending. He said the quality among team-mates and staff has helped him feel at home from day one.
