Eagles are looking to clinch their maiden major silverware, while Pep Guardiola’s side have won the competition seven times

Oliver Glasner has suggested that lifting the FA Cup on Saturday would mean more to Crystal Palace than Manchester City.

Palace, meanwhile, will contest only their third FA Cup final ever this weekend. Previous finals in 1990 and 2016 saw the Eagles beaten by Manchester United on both occasions.

While Glasner did not say explicitly that a cup final triumph would mean more to Palace than City, he accepted that the rarity of his side reaching a final adds a different dimension.

“I don’t know,” he said. “If something is the first time in your life then maybe it means more to you than when you have it every single year. City, I don’t know how many trophies they’ve won and finals they have played in under Pep.”

Since Guardiola took charge of City in 2016, they have won 18 major trophies in total.

“It’s definitely more than Crystal Palace has,” Glasner added. “But for the players, the manager, the club, winning a title is something great in the season.

“I don’t expect that they will wave us the white flag and say: ‘Okay, it’s the first title for Crystal Palace, you should get it.’ I think they will fight to win it.”

Glasner revealed on Friday that Palace have no fresh injury concerns ahead of the final.

While long-term absentees Chadi Riad and Cheick Doucoure remain sidelined with serious knee injuries, Adam Wharton has recovered from the ankle issue that saw him miss last Sunday’s win against Tottenham.

Wharton has been in full training all week and is in line to start at Wembley.
