With the FA Cup down to the last 16, a survey of supporters from 14 clubs suggests the competition still matters, though priorities and satisfaction vary widely.
According to NY Times, only two fanbases fell below 90 percent on the FA Cup’s importance, Liverpool at 89.9 and Southampton at 89.6, while Wolves topped the lot on 98.2.
Interest is up, with 10 of the 14 groups watching more. Liverpool, Manchester City and Chelsea were under 50 percent, while Wrexham, Sunderland and Brentford led on 82, 76.3 and 72.1 percent.
On whether winning would be a big achievement, only 34 percent of Liverpool and 39.2 percent of Arsenal fans said they would be very happy. A sliver said no, including Sunderland 0.4, West Ham 0.3 and Wrexham 0.2 percent.
Asked to choose between the FA Cup and the Champions League, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City mostly chose the latter. Most others preferred silverware, although 50.2 percent of Wrexham supporters picked Champions League qualification.
Most opposed playing the semi-finals at Wembley. Chelsea, Brentford and Fulham tended to back it, while 74.4 percent of Newcastle and 79.7 percent of Sunderland supporters were against, with Leeds and Wrexham notably in favour.
Board satisfaction was highest at Brentford on 95 percent and Wrexham on 94. West Ham saw 64 percent very dissatisfied, while managers drew strong backing, yet only 42.1 percent of Arsenal fans were very satisfied with Mikel Arteta.
