The draw for this season’s FA Cup quarter-final has been confirmed
Manchester Citywill face Liverpool, while Arsenal visit Southampton. Leeds United take on West Ham United, and Chelsea host Port Vale.
Vale have reached this far in the tournament for the first time since 1954.
The FA Cup quarter-final matches are scheduled to take place on the weekend of April 4/5.
Arsenal, who knocked out Mansfield Town after beating Wigan Athletic and Portsmouth, have been handed another favourable draw.
Mikel Arteta’s side have the chance to make it to the semi-finals without facing Premier League opposition.
Despite a recent resurgence in form, Southampton are eighth in the Championship standings.
City, who defeated Newcastle United in the previous round, face another daunting fixture as they host Liverpool in the quarter-final.
The Reds outclassed Wolverhampton Wanderers 3-1 in the fifth round, taking revenge for the humiliating league defeat at Molineux a few days earlier.
Pep Guardiola’s side sit seven points behind the Gunners in the Premier League with a game in hand following the 2-2 draw against Nottingham Forest.
They take on Real Madrid in the Champions League round of 16 first leg on Wednesday.
