The FA says the independent commission’s guilty verdict in the case of Manchester City has “significant implications for the integrity of the game” and has warned it could take further action.
English football’s governing body issued a brief statement following the publication of the commission’s findings, which determined City are guilty of serious breaches of the Premier League’s financial rules.
City continue to deny any wrongdoing and say they remain confident of proving their innocence.
“The Independent Commission’s decision has significant implications for the integrity of the game,” the FA said in a statement.
“We are carefully considering the decision and its implications and will take action where appropriate.”
The FA stopped short of outlining what action could potentially follow and stressed it would not comment further while the Premier League’s case with City remains ongoing.
“As proceedings between the Premier League and Manchester City Football Club remain ongoing, we do not intend to comment further at this stage,” the statement continued.
“We will, however, continue to monitor developments closely.”
