Angelo Fabiani says Lazio plan to press on with Maurizio Sarri despite recent turbulence around the club.

According to The Laziali, the sporting director stressed an intention to complete the work begun with Sarri last summer.

The 67-year-old returned for a second stint 15 months after resigning in March 2024. His first season back has been difficult, with a summer transfer ban, mid-season player sales, and a continuing fan protest against Claudio Lotito.

Those episodes have strained ties between Sarri and the president, with the pair trading barbs in public. Many now doubt they can co-exist beyond this season, but Fabiani cast the arguments as normal and even useful within a club hierarchy. He portrayed it as part of Sarrismo.

Sarri initially agreed a two-year deal with an option in June 2025, which became a three-year contract the following month. Fabiani said the swift change reflected trust in Sarri and his staff.

He added that Lazio removed the option because they believe in the project and want Sarri to stay until 2028.
