After seven goals and seven assist delivered in 25/26 convinced Hamburger SV during his loan spell, Fábio Vieira is now officially a player for the Germans until 2030 in a deal that involved a €9 million investment (approx £7.7m).

In 2022, Arsenal paid £35 million for the left-footer, but the Gunners never managed to make that sizeable investment count on the pitch. Fábio left in search of happiness in Germany and has now strengthened his link with the Bundesliga club.

“Fábio is a football artist. He delighted us all last season with the way he handles the ball,” praised Kathleen Kruger, the German club’s sporting director.

“I always felt that this return was a possibility,” Fábio Vieira said, summing up the moment his new contract was made official.

In January 2026, the former FC Porto man spoke exclusively to our sister site zerozero and admitted his desire to be 'the brain' of Hamburger SV.
