During a press conference ahead of the Torino-Como clash, coach Cesc Fabregas addressed the condition of his Senegalese striker, Assane Diao.

Everyone came back in good shape except Diao. Posch has returned and is qualified for the World Cup, Vojvoda played well with Kosovo, and the young Spaniards did too. Nico Paz played only one match with Angola. But Diao, Sergi Roberto and Goldaniga are unavailable.

For me, it makes no sense. He was out for seven months, only played a few minutes in some games, then leaves for international duty, gets injured and is now unavailable. He arrived at Senegal’s training camp with an adductor problem, only managed two sessions, then came back injured.

On his return:

We will try to have him back for the Inter match, but it is more likely he’ll return against Roma.

Fabregas is above all focused on protecting the player and avoiding any risk of relapse.
