In a recent segment on Youtube, respected journalist Fabrizio Romano stated that Liverpool full-back Andy Robertson is set to join Tottenham Hotspur. Romano said,

“(Robertson) is set to join Tottenham if they stay up in the Premier League. According to my information, there is already in this case an agreement on everything between Robertson and Tottenham.”

Robertson’s Up-And-Down Season At Liverpool

Robertson is having an inconsistent campaign at the Premier League club and has often found himself behind Milos Kerkez in Arne Slot’s pecking order. The 32-year-old has caught the eye at times on the left flank. He has made 33 appearances for the Merseyside club this season, scoring two goals and grabbing two assists in multiple competitions.

His current contract at Anfield will run out at the end of this campaign, which could open the door for Spurs to sign him on a free transfer later this summer.

Should Tottenham Hotspur Boss Roberto De Zerbi Snap Robertson Up?

Robertson is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet and can make some energetic runs with it on the left flank. He remains a decent crosser of the ball and works hard for his team on the defensive end of the field. Robertson has got a wealth of experience and knows what it takes to win trophies in top-flight football.

The Scotland international is primarily a left-back but can also serve as a left-sided wide player if asked to do so. However, there are some concerns over whether he can perform at a high level at Tottenham. Still, Spurs would be wise to move in for him as he has got the leadership qualities to be a real asset in Roberto De Zerbi’s dressing room next season.

We can expect Robertson to bring more quality and depth to Tottenham’s defence. He is still good enough to fight for a regular starting spot at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the coming years.

At 32, Robertson might still have a few good years left in him to play at a high level. Plus, he is on an expiring contract. Therefore, De Zerbi should focus on going all out to snap him up on a free transfer at the end of this season.
