Como are set to trigger €6m release clause

This confirms his earlier tweet from 23 April: “Understand Como are set to trigger €6m release clause for Alex Valle to sign him on permanent deal from Barcelona. Intention and plans clear on club side as they’re set to offer Valle a long term deal.”

Valle made 19 appearances for Celtic

Celtic were well aware of the release clause for Valle and knew that Barcelona had extended his deal for one year to protect their investment before agreeing to the loan move to Paradise. Valle made 19 appearances for Celtic and got the chance to play in the UEFA Champions League. He left Celtic with a Premier Sports winners medal in his pocket and on Saturday he won a second medal as Celtic collected the Scottish Premiership trophy on the last day of the league campaign.

Cesc Fabregas is the manager at serie A side Como and the Barcelona connection played a huge part in his decision to cut short his time at Celtic, which he was thoroughly enjoying. Valle made 14 appearances for Como helping them to a respectable if not outstanding 10th place finish.

Valle has sorted out his long-term future, will play in a top league and will hope to push on from there, under the guidance of Fabregas.

Back at Celtic, Greg Taylor looks likely to leave the club after the Scottish Cup Final while Jeffrey Schlupp’s loan deal from Crystal Palace ends this weekend, as indeed does his Palace career. However Schlupp’s former club Leicester City, where he won his Premier League winners medal, are interested in taking him back as they look to bounce back up from relegation to the Championship.

That would leave Kieran Tierney as the only left-back in the Celtic first team squad, a position of concern for Brendan Rodgers once the Scottish Cup Final is out of the way. All focus for now is on that and winning a ninth treble for Celtic.
