Following on from a damaging 3-3 draw away to Leeds at Elland Road, Mohamed Salah claimed someone wanted him out of the club and also took aim at Arne Slot.

The Egyptian King stated that his relationship with the Premier League title-winning head coach was dead in the water.

Slot - alongside other decision-makers including Richard Hughes - left Salah out of the subsequent Champions League assignment at Inter.

Mo Salah now away with Egypt at Afcon

The game was won by Liverpool in a new-look diamond formation and Salah and Slot smoothed things over before last week’s top-flight encounter against Brighton.

Salah came off the bench in that game - providing an assist for Hugo Ekitike - and that seemed to be the end of the matter.

The 33-year-old is with Egypt at the Africa Cup of Nations and should return to a more settled environment when the Pharaohs’ participation is at an end.

The flashpoint between Salah and Slot has certainly left a mark at Anfield - solidifying Arne Slot’s position at what could have been a critical juncture.

Arne Slot solidifies power at Liverpool

The head coach’s job might have been on the line following a run of nine defeats in 12 but the club appears to have rallied around the Dutchman.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Slot’s “power” is now clear having received his paymasters’ backing. The upturn in results has helped of course and right now it looks as though Slot is out of the woods.

“After the recent wins, a way better situation internally after what happened with Mo Salah,” Romano tells his YouTube audience.

“Arne Slot, you can feel how important his role is for Liverpool management because Liverpool decided together with Arne Slot how to handle the Mo Salah story.

“And so the power of Arne Slot is very clear in terms of receiving the support from Liverpool.

“They trust the manager even in difficult situations and so Slot remains in control at Liverpool.

“Of course, the results have to improve, but recently it already improved, so they will have to continue this way.”
