Andoni Iraola has taken over as Liverpool's manager.
The Spaniard is coming off the back of a rather impressive season with Bournemouth which saw them earn qualification to the Europa League.
And, since his playing style is an awful lot different to Arne Slot's, there's bound to be some changes to Liverpool's squad.
The Reds finished fifth in the Premier League this term which is a massive fall from grace after winning the Premier League title just a year ago.
However, because Liverpool are a sell-to-buy club, they'll need to offload some of their talent to fund new arrivals with one of their mainstays from the 2025-26 season now being eyed up.
Cody Gakpo has had a bit of a love-hate relationship with the Reds' fanbase ever since arriving.
Throughout the 2024-25 season, the Dutchman formed a dynamic trio with Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah which saw him contribute to 25 goals across all competitions.
This season, however, things didn't exactly work out like that with most of Liverpool's fans wanting him dropped completely.
Despite this poor form, rumours of a potential exit have started to emerge with Fabrizio Romano sharing a new update on Gakpo's future.
"Liverpool want to go and strengthen the winger positions, they already lost Mohamed Salah. Let’s see if some club arrives with a proposal for Cody Gakpo. There is interest in Cody Gakpo," he said.
"Then it is going to be on Liverpool to decide whether he’s going to stay, he’s going to leave. That’s going to be a club decision, with the coach as well, Andoni Iraola."
One club that has been mentioned as a potential destination for Gakpo is Tottenham.
Spurs are trying to rebuild themselves after a couple of seasons of under performance and, with Roberto De Zerbi at the helm, it's probably the best chance that they've had yet.
The Italian is already looking into the market for new talent and, with Liverpool wanting some of his players, a deal could be reached between the two parties that could see Gakpo join Spurs and someone such as Micky van de Ven join Liverpool.
However, since Iraola has a different tactical style to Slot, it feels like Gakpo could end up getting back to his best under the new regime, even though Spurs would pay around £51 million for his services.
Of course, with the World Cup just around the corner, anything could happen but if Iraola doesn't figure out who he wants to keep and who he wants to move on soon, the Reds could find themselves in a bit of a pickle by the start of the new season.
