Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Liverpool entered talks with a world-class star. Can Richard Hughes and co. get a deal done?
Liverpool have a series of contract situations to sort out ahead of 2026. It's a story that could take a negative turn if they're not careful.
Ibrahima Konate is the standout as the Frenchman is very much seen as a part of the long-term future at Anfield. He's a regular in the first-XI but his contract does expire at the end of the season.
That's not all, though. Andy Robertson's deal will also end and while it's unclear how Liverpool want to move forward with the Scot, it's a situation that must get sorted.
Then come the deals that won't expire but will force decisions. Ryan Gravenberch, for instance, has a contract until 2028 but remains on the same pay he arrived on.
The Dutchman has since kicked on several levels since then. He'll want to be paid like a key player and if Liverpool want him to stick around beyond 2028, they'll need to reward him for his form.
And he's not the only one.
Fabrizio Romano confirmed on Threads this weekend that Liverpool are in new contract talks with Dominik Szoboszlai. He claims an offer has been made but suggests that talks are ongoing.
And it's fully deserved. Szoboszlai has arguably been Liverpool's best and most consistent player this season - it's proving to be something of a breakout campaign for him as a truly world-class player.
