Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Bologna boss and reported Manchester United managerial target Thiago Motta has reached an agreement with Juventus to become Massimiliano Allegri’s long-term successor.

It’s looking increasingly certain that Erik ten Hag will be relieved of his duties at United and as this goes on, the Red Devils continue to be strongly linked with potential replacements.

One of these is Motta, who’s worked miracles this season at Bologna.

The former Inter Milan and Paris Saint-Germain midfielder has earned praise this season for his attractive brand of football and fearless style of play, which secured Bologna European football for the first time in more than two decades. Even more impressive is that Bologna will be making their bow in the Champions League.

Motta’s football philosophy is believed to be the kind of thing INEOS would love to see implemented at United – something Ten Hag has spectacularly failed at.

Unsurprisingly, other parties alongside the Reds were also mentioned to be interested in Motta. Juventus especially are known to be avid admirers of his.

The Turin outfit were treated to a stunning show of what Motta can bring to their side earlier this week when Bologna played out a 3-3 draw against them.

The Rossoblù raced to a 3-0 lead but Juventus clawed their way back to ensure the spoils were shared between the two teams.

A previous report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that Juventus had offered Motta a three-year deal.

Over the weekend, the 41-year-old opened up on suggestions that he’s next in line for the Juve job and said that a final decision would be made in the coming days.

If the latest update provided by Romano is anything to go by, Motta has now made his final decision and it’s not good for United, whose options are dwindling.

The Italian journalist wrote on X (formerly Twitter), “Juventus are closing in on deal to appoint Thiago Motta after working on it for 6 months.”

“Motta’s set to accept Juve proposal, he has to inform Bologna in 24/48h.”

“Contract will be valid for three years as reported last week, until June 2027 for less than €5m/season.”

United will now almost certainly have to look elsewhere in their search for an ideal Ten Hag replacement.
