The Rams have made clear progress in recent years, and there is a hope that they will be big beneficiaries of the new extended format that will see the top eight make the play-offs.

Obviously, they need a productive transfer window, and the club have had a positive start on that front, with Derby completing a permanent deal for Bobby Clark, who enjoyed a productive loan spell in the previous campaign.

Derby County face battle to retain Jacob Widell Zetterstrom amid Leeds, Frankfurt and Wolves interest

However, whilst there will be an excitement about who Derby can bring in, it seems apparent they will face a battle to keep hold of some of their star men.

He has claimed that Leeds and Frankfurt have both ‘made contact’ to ask how much a potential deal would cost, with Wolves also interested in the stopper.

Zetterstrom has spent the past two years at Pride Park after arriving from Swedish side Djurgaden, and he has established himself as one of the best keepers in the Championship with his performances.

That form saw the 27-year-old called up to the Swedish squad for the World Cup, and he made his debut on the biggest stage in their 1-1 draw with Japan, which ensured Graham Potter’s side made it through to the last 32, with Zetterstrom playing well.

Jacob Widell Zetterstrom has been excellent for Derby County

In truth, it’s no surprise that Zetterstrom is attracting attention, as he is a very good goalkeeper, who is approaching his peak years.

Therefore, Derby will be prepared for this, and they will be relatively relaxed about the situation. Of course, they won’t want to lose their key man, but if a big offer arrives, it could be the right thing for the club in order to kick-on.

The chance to join Leeds in the Premier League is going to appeal, and Frankfurt are a huge club in Germany who will expect to be competing for the European places.

With Zetterstrom's contract expiring in the summer of 2027, the Rams know that a decision needs to be made on the stopper, as they won’t want him to leave on a free in 12 months time.

The immediate priority for Zetterstrom will be to help his country at the World Cup, and a big performance in the knockouts will only raise his profile, and the potential asking price.

Then, the keeper will be able to address his future, and it will be interesting to see where he ends up.

Fans react as Leeds, Frankfurt and Wolves show interest in Jacob Widell Zetterstrom

Naturally, this was a talking point among the fans of the clubs mentioned, and it's fair to say that this Derby fan was upset at the prospect of losing the keeper.

Yet, one Derby fan explained why the club need to be open to selling players for a profit, if it means the funds can be reinvested to help other areas of the team.

Meanwhile, this Rams supporter made it clear the club must demand a substantial price for the keeper.

Finally, Wolves are expected to be in the market for a new number one this summer, and this fan would be keen on Zetterstrom making the move to Molineux.
